Suspension

The Suspension category covers parts responsible for vibration damping, maintaining tyre-road contact and ride comfort. You will find shock absorbers, springs (coil, leaf, air), control arms, ball joints, anti-roll-bar bushings and links, engine mounts and gearbox mounts.

Worn suspension components not only reduce ride comfort but directly affect safety — they increase braking distance, worsen directional stability and accelerate tyre wear. In trucks a sound suspension also protects the cargo from damage.

Frequently asked questions

How do I recognise worn shock absorbers?

Symptoms include: excessive body roll after bumps, longer braking distances, uneven tyre wear (cupping pattern), oil leaking from the absorber body and knocking over bumps. The bounce test — pressing a vehicle corner firmly — should see the body return in one motion.

Should shock absorbers be replaced in pairs?

Yes — always replace both absorbers on the same axle (left and right). Different damping characteristics between left and right worsen stability during braking and manoeuvres. A wheel alignment is recommended after replacement.

When should leaf springs be replaced on a truck?

Replace leaf springs when one or more leaves crack (visible fracture), when the vehicle sits unevenly (leans to one side) or when deflection exceeds the permissible value. A broken leaf can work loose and damage the tyre or brake lines.
